The Linking Knowledge to Climate Action Postdoctoral Fellowship is a unique opportunity for PhDs from any discipline to conduct groundbreaking research that illuminates the different ways that evidence-based climate actions can be prototyped and scaled in different locations. This fellowship is designed to foster a global online community of scholars, enabling them to collaborate and share knowledge across borders while making a tangible impact on climate action in their local communities.
Eligibility
To be eligible for the Climate Action Labs Postdoctoral Fellowship, applicants must:
Have earned a PhD in any discipline
Willing to prototype climate solutions at the local level by co-creating local institutional arrangements with government and other stakeholders
Be affiliated with a university or research institution
Willing to serve as a focal person of the local Climate Action Labs hub
Application Process
The application process for the Climate Action Labs Postdoctoral Fellowship is competitive and consists of the following steps:
Submit a completed application form, including your CV, research proposal, and three letters of recommendation.
Participate in a virtual interview with the selection committee.
Upon selection, sign a fellowship agreement and commence your research.
Fellowship Responsibilities
Postdoctoral fellows will be expected to:
Conduct independent research on a climate-related topic of their choice.
Participate in the Climate Action Labs online community, sharing their research and collaborating with other fellows.
Act as the focal person for their local Climate Action Labs hub, building partnerships with universities and cities in their region.
Disseminate their research findings through publications, presentations, and policy briefs.

A virtual seminar series featuring guest speakers from around the world
Local University-Township Partnerships
Postdoctoral fellows will play a key role in building partnerships between universities and the cities and towns in their region. These partnerships will focus on developing and implementing climate action plans, prototyping local solutions, conducting research on local climate impacts, and engaging with community stakeholders. The fellowship will utilize the Problem-driven Iterative Adaptation (PDIA) methodology to facilitate co-creation initiatives between universities and cities.
Fees
A bench fee of USD 2,000 will be charged to sustain and scale up support for this initiative. Fellows are encouraged to mobilize support from their own universities and other stakeholders.
Climate Action Labs Licensing
As Fellows will receive a two-year license for the Climate Action Labs (CAL), allowing them to use CAL as a vehicle or platform for cultivating the local innovation ecosystem for climate action. The Climate Action Labs may also serve as a boundary-spanning hub for local stakeholders, allowing the Fellows to investigate the dynamics of complex systems, politics, boundary work, translation science, and other facets of knowledge-to-action systems.
The license may be extended for another 10 years for USD1 per year and this license may be awarded
