WHY START A CLIMATE ACTION LABS CHAPTER?
STEPS TO START A CHAPTER*
1. Express Your Interest
Reach out to us through this online form to express your interest in starting a chapter. You will receive a Chapter Starter Kit with all the necessary information and resources to get started.
2. Find Faculty Support
Identify and designate a faculty advisor who shares your interest and is willing to support your chapter. As advisor, his/her role can include providing guidance, helping to organize events, and liaising with the broader academic community.
3. Form a Founding Team
Recruit a team of dedicated students who are as passionate as you about sustainability and climate action innovation. Form an executive committee with roles such as President, Vice President, Treasurer, and Secretary to ensure your chapter runs smoothly.
4. Develop a Chapter Plan
Work with your founding team and faculty advisor to develop a Chapter Plan. This should include your mission, goals for the year, planned activities, and how you intend to engage the campus community.
5. Register Your Chapter
Complete the Chapter Registration Form included in the Chapter Starter Kit. Submit it via email at ask@climateactionlabs.com along with your chapter plan for approval.
6. Launch Your Chapter
Once approved, officially launch your chapter with an inaugural event. This could be a seminar, workshop, or networking event that introduces the Climate Action Labs and its mission to your campus.
7. Engage Your Campus
Organize regular events, workshops, and meetings to keep your members engaged. Collaborate with other student organizations and academic departments to expand your reach and impact.
8. Connect with Other Chapters
Join the Climate Action Labs global network of student chapters to share ideas, resources, and best practices. Participate in international events and contribute to cross-chapter projects.
In developing your Chapter Plan, consider including the regular conduct of the following activities:
Workshops and Seminars: Host events with experts in sustainability and climate action.
Research Projects: Engage in collaborative research to support the Climate Action Labs mission.
Community Outreach: Organize sustainability initiatives involving the community, like fellowship programs and educational events.
Conferences and Competitions: Participate in or host events showcasing sustainability innovations.
